Add images

Images can be either attached to a topic, or added as new topics or as floating images that can be moved freely. You can also use an image for the map background and add images to the text notes for topics You can use professionally designed map images from the MindManager Library or your own image from a file. Commands for organizing and editing your images can be used from the Library task pane.

Note: Images are not shown in Outline view.

Adding Library Images

First, open the image Library:

Do one of the following:

Hint: To see more detailed images right-click on the Library background and select Show Large Previews.

To attach the image to a topic or topic(s):

  1. Select the topic(s).

  2. Click the image in the Library.

  3. Re-size or reposition the image within the topic space if desired.

Hint: You can search for an image by entering a keyword in the field at the top of the Library pane and clicking Search. The search results appear in the Library pane preview window, and you can select the image from there. You can customize image keywords by adding or removing terms in the Library.

To create a new topic from an image:

Drag the image from the library to the map.

Images from Files

You can add Images from Files in bmp, emf, wmf, gif, jpeg, pcx or png formats.

  1. Do one of the following:

Hint: Place the cursor inside the topic text  first to attach the image to the topic. Otherwise the image becomes a new subtopic.

  1. Navigate to the image file and click Insert.

  2. You can drag the image to its desired location.

Note: You can add your own images to the MindManager Library for re-use.

Note: You can choose whether to show images on your map using the Show/Hide command.

Paste images

You can paste existing images from other applications into MindManager topics. You can also paste other content (like tables from Word, data ranges from Excel, etc.) as an image.  The Paste Special command indicates which formats are available.

To paste an existing image:

  1. Copy the image from the original application (usually Ctrl+C).

  2. Select where you want the image pasted:

  1. Press Ctrl+V or click Edit-Paste.

To paste other content as an image:

  1. Copy the item from the source application.

  2. Select a topic (if the pasted image is to be attached or pasted as a new subtopic) or click on the map background (if you want to paste the image as a floating image).

  1. Click Edit - Paste Special - Paste Special As.

  2. Choose Picture or Bitmap and click Paste to create a subtopic or floating image or Paste Inside to attach the image to the current topic.

Note: The Picture and Bitmap selections will only display if the item is available in that format.

Background images

You can add a background image to your map from the library or from your own image file.
