The topic formatting options on the Alignment tab and Size and Margins tab control the layout of text and images within the selected topic. You can select multiple topics and change their alignment and margins, or save your settings as new style defaults to change the entire map.
To change the alignment of text and images:
Select the topic(s).
Use the advanced formatting toolbar buttons to
set the topic alignment:
topic text
or
image
alignment.
Note: If you don't see the Advanced Formatting toolbar, right-click on any toolbar and check the Advanced Formatting option to display it.
Hint: you can just drag an image inside the topic to change its alignment with the text.
For more alignment options, or to format the topic size or margins:
Do one of the following:
Right-click on the topic and choose Format Topic
Click Format - Topic
Change the settings on the tabs to meet your needs:
On the Alignment tab set the options for Text Alignment (aligns the text within the topic) and Text and Image Alignment (positions images relative to the topic text).
On the Size and Margins tab, choose settings to apply to all standard topic shapes. If a Custom shape is used, you'll see a preview image where you can set the text area. Padding applies to topics with images. The measurement units used (in or mm) are set in the Tools - Options - General tab.
Hint: Some experimentation may be required to get just the right "look" for your map - click Apply to see how your settings will look without leaving the dialog.
On any of the tabs, use the Style button if you wish to:
Save all the topic's format settings as the default style for topics of the same type at this level. The settings become part of the current map's style. All existing topics at this level assume these attributes (unless they have been individually formatted), as will any new topics you create. You will see these new attributes reflected if you use the Modify Style command.
Reset all of the topic's formatting to the defaults of the current style.
