Use this option to link to an existing file (including another map) Web page or folder.
To link to a file, web page or folder:
Select the topic or the location in a note where you want the link.
Do one of the following:
Click the Hyperlink
button on the toolbar
Press Ctrl+K
Click Topic - Hyperlink
Right-click the topic or location and select Add Hyperlink
In the Insert Hyperlink dialog click the Existing File or Web Page button.
In the Link to field enter the
file name and path, the hyperlink address, or the folder path.
If you are unsure of the location use the browser buttons for File,
Web and folder to find the destination. (For a Web page copy and paste
the url from your browser into the Link
to: field.)
If you enter the name of a MindManager map file in the Link
to: field
You can click the Select Topic button to choose a specific topic or label to link to.
For a file, you can choose whether the hyperlink path is stored as absolute or relative to the location of the parent map.
Click Options to set special options used when you export your map to another document format or to a web page, or when you want to pass arguments with the hyperlink.
A link icon appears on the
topic, reflecting the type of link you've added - for example if you link
to a map, a map icon appears
; if you link to a Word document,
the Word icon appears
, etc. Some web addresses may use
favicons (custom icons) when you link to them.
Note: If you use favicons, MindManager will attempt to connect to the internet whenever you open the map. Use the Tools - Options - Visual Effects - Show Favicons for Web Hyperlinks option to disable this behavior.
Shortcuts for creating
hyperlinks:

it into the map.
To create a hyperlink from within your browser, click the Send

When MindManager pops up, drag it to the desired location on your map and drop it. A visual cue shows you how the link will be added.

Topic edge (green cue) |
New subtopic with hyperlink; |
Once the link is added you can edit the topic text. This does not effect the link itself.
Hint: To create a floating topic regardless of drop location press the SHIFT key while dropping the hyperlink.
Relative vs Absolute Hyperlinks
Hyperlinks to files are stored as either Relative or Absolute.
Relative links use the location of the map as a base and show the path to the document from there. Absolute links use the entire path name. For example:
Map is stored in C:\My Documents\My Maps\map1.mmap
Picture is stored in C:\My Documents\My Pictures\picture1.jpg
Relative link to picture would be: ..\My Pictures\picture1.jpg
Absolute link to picture would be: C:\My Documents\My Pictures\picture1.jpg
The default setting for new links is determined by your selection in the Map Properties dialog, but can be set individually for each link as you create it.
If you move a map with relative hyperlinks using Windows Explorer you will be asked if you want to update the hyperlinks the next time you open the map.
If you enter the name of a MindManager map in the Link to: field
You can click the Select Topic button to choose a specific topic or label to link to.
You can switch to Multimap Workspace to see all the linked maps at once, execute commands to open, print and export them or combine maps into one large map.
