Import a Microsoft Excel file

The Excel Data Mapper lets you import a Microsoft Excel (XLSX, XLS, or CSV) spreadsheet into a topic in an existing map or create a new map based on the file. This feature simplifies breaking down data in a Microsoft Excel file, including task info such as start and due dates, into categories that are mapped to topics. When you import an Excel file, a topic structure is created where sibling topics are created from rows that share a common ancestor.

Import an Excel file

  1. Do one of the following:

    On the File tab, click Import, and then click Import using Excel Data Mapper. Or On the Advanced tab, in the Dashboards group,  click Excel Data Mapper.

 

  1. On the Excel Data Mapper pane, choose one of the following, and click Next:

  1. Navigate to the Excel file, and click Open.

  2. To use the default import settings, click Next twice and then Apply.

     To customize the data import, you can modify the options in the Excel Data Mapper pane.

Save a preset configuration for importing Excel files

  1. On the Level page of the Excel Data Mapper pane, click the Save Preset File button .

  2. Type a name for the preset file.

  3. Click Save.
    The preset file extension is .mmxp.
